A rash of crime in Cleveland Heights has a man and his neighborhood on edge.

Ten thefts, break-ins and burglaries were reported in a 48-hour window. In one case, someone broke into a home to steal a wallet and a set of keys.

People are saying they're not used to crime in the area, so they're locking up their cars and houses early and warning others to do the same.

News 5 talked to one man, who said someone broke into his car.

He didn't want to be identified, but said he was shocked when he went outside and realized someone else had been in it.

"Everything was just scattered around the car," he said.

Holding his dog Butterball close, he told News 5, hopefully she'll let him know if someone comes lurking around again, but that they're "going to start locking up! We normally haven't."

Cleveland Heights police say they're monitoring the area. Residents said they're confident in the department adding, the break-ins are a good reminder to lock up at night.
