Four boys have been arrested and booked into a juvenile detention center for brutally beating a kitten to death earlier this month, police said.
CLEVELAND - A Cleveland officer investigating an abandoned car found a dead dog inside on Tuesday.
Police were called to the 1700 block of Avalon Road at about 10:30 a.m., and discovered a vehicle that smelled like dog with a door unlocked.
The officer spotted the puppy towards the back of the car and tapped on the window, but it didn't move. According to the police report, the dog had on a red leash that was tied down to the car with only 11 inches to move.
The 24-year-old owner of the car said he knew the dog died on Feb. 6. The report said he told police he was giving it food and water each day, but he didn't know how it died.
Cleveland police and the APL said they believed that the puppy, a chow-mix, had not been fed in a while and starved to death.
Sharon Harvey with the Cleveland APL said the dog was extremely malnourished, which is the likely cause of death.
