I-71 reopens after overnight crash shuts down I-71 ramps, sends 3 to hospital

CLEVELAND - Police have reopened a section of Interstate 71 following an overnight crash in Cleveland.

Around 3:00 a.m. police reopened the highway after shutting down both ramps to westbound Interstate 90 from northbound I-71 and the Innerbelt Bridge.

About two hours earlier, a car carrying three men crashed directly underneath the Scranton Road bridge where both ramps from I-71 north and south merge with I-90 west.

Paramedics tell NewsChannel5, all three men were rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center following the wreck.

One man is in critical condition. The two others are in stable condition.

While the cause of the crash is not yet clear, police tell NewsChannel5 at least one person was thrown from the vehicle during the crash.

The entire stretch reopened at 5:05 p.m.
