CLEVELAND - A 70-year-old man is dead after a crash between a car and minivan on Cleveland's east side Friday morning.
Police said the two-car crash at East 155th Street and Harvard Avenue was called out at 5:59 a.m.
When officers arrived, the driver in a Kia Specra was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Thomas Thomas, of Geauga County.
According to police, the driver of of a Dodge Caravan -- a 60-year-old man from Cleveland -- appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was placed under arrest. He's awaiting charges of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Police said it appears the minivan driver was speeding on Harvard Avenue when he struck the Kia, which was making a left turn out of a parking lot.
The arrested man's name was released by Cleveland police, but it's NewsChannel5's policy to not name suspects in a criminal case unless they've been charged.
