ATHENS, Ohio - Authorities are investigating the death of a 21-year-old student found dead early Thursday morning at Ohio University.

Athens police said they were called to a residence on Grosvenor Street for an unresponsive woman around 3 a.m. Yaara Mashmoor, 21, was then rushed to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"I was saddened to learn of Yaara's passing this morning," said Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi in a statement from OU. "On behalf of Ohio University, I extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends. I know the fond memories we have of her will help us all through this difficult time."

The Pepper Pike native was studying psychology at Ohio U. and was in her junior year.
