CLEVELAND - The Cleveland police officer who was shot by a suspect on the city's east side Monday morning has been released from the hospital.
Fifth District patrol officer Bob Taylor was released from the hospital around 2:30 p.m.
According to authorities, the shooting happened on Addison Road and Varian Avenue around 10:25 a.m.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland police said Taylor was inside an abandoned apartment building when he was shot at. Taylor was struck one time in his body armor, but was conscious and talking when help arrived.
Sgt. Sammy Morris said the officer did fire three rounds, but it's not known if any of the bullets struck the suspect.
Officers continue to look for the shooter. A vague description of the suspect was released by police. They're looking for a man in his early 20s, about 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds.
