HARRISBURG, Ohio - Notes found in Ariel Castro's cell after his suicide were released Wednesday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in an investigative report.
The report details the police investigation that took place after Castro, who was serving a life sentence plus 1,000 years for imprisoning and raping three women for 10 years, was found hanging in his cell Sept. 3.
The death was a suicide, the report concludes, which concurs with the release of an independent consultant's report released earlier this week.
In his cell, troopers found a "shrine-like" structure with handwritten notes, including one titled "MY KIDS AND GRANDKIDS," with hearts, musical notes, flowers and a cross written with their names and the phrase "God is Great!"
