CLEVELAND - The driver of a stolen pickup truck caused a seven-car crash on Cleveland's east side Monday morning, police said.
A 65-year-old South Euclid man was speeding in a stolen Ford F-150 on Kinsman Avenue and didn't stop at a red light at East 79th Street, Cleveland police said. The truck struck a dump truck and lost control, hitting a Chevrolet Cavalier.
According to Cleveland police, it caused a chain reaction of collisions involving four more cars. During the crash, a large chunk of sandstone was thrown from the stolen truck and crashed through the passenger-side windshield of a Jeep.
Police said the 15-year-old passenger suffered back and neck injuries, and was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Two others were treated and released.
Officers arrested the suspect after a short foot pursuit. He is awaiting charges at the central prison unit.
