CLEVELAND - A man has died after he was shot while sitting in a car on Cleveland's east side Monday morning.
According to police, the 26-year-old man was sitting in a gold Saturn on Saywell Avenue near East 123rd Street at about 10:37 a.m. when a man walked up and fired shots through the passenger window, hitting the man in the stomach area.
The man was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
Police later learned the victim tried to drive away and crashed his car at East 123rd and Chesterfield Avenue.
Investigators said after the shooting, the gunman left in a two-tone Buick Century and drove north on East 123rd Street.
Police searched the area for the gunman's car, but were not able to find it.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
