A man died after getting hit by a car in a hit-skip early Sunday morning.
Just after midnight on Sunday, a 56-year-old man was crossing St. Clair Avenue when a 20-year-old woman, Zaire Abbott, hit the man with her SUV and drove away from the scene, according to police.
Abbott drove to her residence where she told her father about the crash. Her father later called police and she was arrested at her home without incident.
Police are investigating both speed and alcohol as factors that led to the crash. According to police, Abbott will be charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and felony hit-skip.
