MAC Tournament expected to bring big money to downtown Cleveland

CLEVELAND - This is the week downtown Cleveland businesses wait for all year long. The MAC Tournament started Wednesday and lasts until Saturday, promising big crowds and a nice financial boost to area bars, hotels and restaurants.

The General Manager of downtown bar and restaurant, Harry Buffalo, said big parties have been calling to make reservations.

"We double or triple our staff because so many people are in town, scheduling parties of a hundred people or more," Caitlin Cassidy said.

This is the 14th year the MAC tournament has been held in Cleveland. The Commissioner of the Conference said people love coming to this city.

"We've got sixteen teams, all their fan bases, and all those things. I've got two headquarter hotels that are basically at capacity right now. Then, a number of affiliate hotels that are also doing really well. It will be a nice bump," Jon Steinbrecher said.

Thursday night will be a big one for local basketball fans. Kent State takes on Buffalo at 6:30 p.m.
