Louis Stokes VA Medical Center supervisor is second employee to face federal charges

CLEVELAND - A supervisor at the Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Medical Center is the second employee to face federal charges stemming from a corruption investigation.

Okey Wise, 64, of Bath, is accused of stealing raw materials from the medical center, including wiring and other materials needed to run its backup generator, which caused a power failure at the center that left the hospital without access to electronic records and other essential services.

In July, the center's director, William Montague, was charged with conspiracy to commit mail/wire fraud, bribery of public officials, disclosing public contract information, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and other related charges totaling a 36-count indictment.

Wise faces charges of theft of government property, depredation of government property and false statements made to federal investigators.
