A local teen is dreaming of gold, just days before he graduates from high school.

Charles Conwell, 18, just became the second youngest boxer to secure a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.

He's taking his talents to the ring in Rio, but not before getting a special send off from his fellow classmates.

Monday, dozens of Cleveland Heights High students filled the streets outside their school for a parade for Conwell.

"It was overwhelming. I tried real hard it to cry," said Conwell.

Conwell fought some heavy-handed competition to make it to the games

His father and coach never imagined the Olympics when his son started boxing 10 years ago.

"I knew he was gonna be a good fighter, but as he progressed I knew we were gonna make the gold."

On Monday, Conwell received 14 stacks of handwritten letters from his classmates, one for each day he's in Brazil.

So, even though he will be thousands of miles away, support from home will be right in his hands.
