Local band still needs your votes: 'Burning River Ramblers' ready for stardom

CLEVELAND - Cleveland music lovers have spoken. The Burning River Ramblers (BRR) have taken top honors in Cleveland's Hard Rock Calling competition. But that's only half the battle.

BRR wants it all.

"They're extremely excited" said Kelly Standish, Burning River Ramblers manager and proud mom to guitarist Conor Standish.

BRR are Conor Standish (vocals/guitar), Chris Rush (bass), Jesse Catania (drummer), Zach Catania (guitar/vocals), and Dave Young (keys/sound engineer). The Ramblers are still making their presence known throughout the Midwest Region. They are currently playing gigs in both Athens and the Cleveland area and are also working on their second album which is due out in June.

"They have a unique sound. They have been compared to the Dave Mathews Band, Sublime, and O.A.R." said Standish.

If they win, the band will have a chance to play Hard Rock Calling in London as part of a World Tour and make an album and video with Hard Rock Records.

Last year, Cleveland's Hard Rock Cafe was proud to produce Hey Monea! from Canton, Ohio. The band was able to take top honors, beating out  thousands of other bands. Hey Monea! is getting ready to release their first album for Hard Rock Records in late summer 2013.

It wasn't all that long ago BRR was looking for a drummer. One day the boys ordered a pizza and the pizza delivery guy noticed a drum kit while waiting for his money. He mentioned he could play drums. A quick audition was held and Jesse Catania became their new drummer. As luck would have it, Jesse's brother Zach played guitar. The new BRR lineup was born.

One of the accomplishments made by BRR in the short years they have been together is Conor Standish's song "Stranger on the Street" off BRR's debut album winning the John Lennon Songwriting Contest's "Valentine's Day Love Song Competition" in February of 2012.

The band is also involved with charities like the Suicide Prevention Education Alliance. They have also performed benefit concerts for The Arthritis Foundation, Relay For Life, and The Gathering Place.

The deadline to vote for BRR is 4PM Wednesday, May 1. You can vote by going to the Hard Rock Facebook page . Scroll down to "The Burning River Ramblers" and click "vote".
