Leterrayfrere T. Smart indicted for April murder

Leterrayfrere T. Smart was indicted by the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas for the murder of 22-year-old Ernest Swift on April 18.

Smart, 23, was indicted on two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of voluntary manslaughter, one count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of carrying concealed weapons, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Smart was arrested on April 25. He received a $500,000 bond on April 26. 

Swift was shot to death in Maple Heights on April 18. 

Police were called around 10:40 a.m. that day to Sunnyslope Apartments for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived they found Swift lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was taken  to UH Bedford Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
