Judge orders $5,000 bond, psychological evaluation for woman accused of abandoning babies at shelter

CLEVELAND - A woman accused of abandoning two babies at a homeless shelter in Cleveland appeared in court Friday.

Alisha Houston, 31, was charged with two counts of endangering children after police said she took a 1-year-old boy and an approximately 3-week-old girl to the Salvation Army and asked workers for a room for the night. At around 9 a.m., workers checking on the room found the babies but Houston was gone.

Police found Houston a few days later in Worthington, Ohio.

Houston was held on a $5,000 bond and a judge ordered that she undergo a psychological evaluation.
