CLEVELAND - The Horseshoe Casino Cleveland surpassed one million visitors this month, casino officials said on Friday.
The casino officially opened its doors on May 14 and people lined the street to get into first the casino in the state of Ohio. One month later, casino officials reported nearly 500,000 guests in its first month of operation.
The Horseshoe Cleveland has also been able to keep up with other casinos in nearby states. On July 11, the Ohio Casino Commission said the downtown Cleveland casino had bets of $159.6 million on 2,083 slot machines. That's slightly better than the $159.5 million on 2,066 machines at the Presque Isle Downs and Casino in Erie, Pa.
The casino, located in the old Higbee Building, has numbers that would make it very competitive among Atlantic City casinos, like Trump Taj Mahal and Balley's AC.
