A fire that broke out above Greenhouse Tavern on Monday has caused the restaurant to close for "the short foreseeable future," according to Chef Jonathan Sawyer.
Around 1 a.m. on Monday, Cleveland Fire tweeted a fire was extinguished in the 2000 block of East 4th Street late Sunday night.

Sawyer tweeted just before 6:30 a.m. Monday that everyone at Greenhouse Tavern was safe and unharmed.

An hour and a half later, Sawyer posted to Facebook that the restaurant will be closed "for the short foreseeable future."
At 9 p.m. on Monday, Sawyer took to Facebook again to express his gratitude to Cleveland firefighters and everyone who assisted with the fire. He said there is still a few more days of work to do, but the restaurant will reopen.
