A week before Republicans gathered in Cleveland to select Donald Trump as their party's presidential nominee GOP Chair Reince Priebus was understanding in talking about how Gov. John Kasich had yet to come on board and publicly support Trump.
"I'm not going to sit here and act as though this was not a rough primary it was, this was something that comes around once every forty years so the more bruises there are the longer it takes to heal," Priebus said in July. "And we are going to heal."
Two months later Priebus is suggesting Kasich, along with Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush have had enough time to heal and said Sunday on Face the Nation it was time to honor the pledges they signed and support Donald Trump and if they didn't they may be blocked from future runs.
"Those people need to get on board and if they're thinking they're going to run again someday I think that we're going to evaluate the process, the nomination process and I don't think it's going to be that easy for them," Priebus said Sunday.
Kasich's Chief Strategist John Weaver tweeted Priebus couldn't bully a third grader but could be bullied into submission by Trump who hijacked the GOP under his watch."
Weaver later released a statement adding "the idea of a greater purpose beyond oneself may be alien to political party bosses like Reince Priebus, but it is at the center of everything Governor Kasich does. He will not be bullied by a Kenosha political operative that is unable to stand up for core principles or beliefs. In fact, Reince should be thanking the Governor for standing for an inclusive, conservative vision that can actually win a national election and improve our country. The Governor is traveling the nation supporting down ballot Republicans and preventing a potential national wipeout from occurring on Reince's watch."
Trump for his part Monday dismissed Kasich's failure to endorse on sour grapes.
"The only reason he's not on board is that he got beaten so badly, he got beaten as badly as anybody can get beaten," Trump said on Fox & Friends. "But what they do is these people all want to run in four years right. If I were the head of the Republican party I'd say you can't do it."
