Gloria Pointer's mother addresses new Hernandez Warern indictment, foundation for children

CLEVELAND - NewsChannel5 at Noon had an exclusive interview with Yvonne Pointer Wednesday.

The mother was scheduled to appear to speak to Leon Bibb - a friend for 30 years - about her foundation in her slain daughter's name.

But moments before she took her seat in our studio, prosecutors announced new charges against the suspect in her daughter's 1984 killing  - charges that make him eligible for the death penalty.

The suspect, Hernandez Warren, is awaiting trial in jail on a $5 million bond.

The Gloria Pointer Foundation will host an event beginning this week called A Celebration of Hope. The campaign includes an improv comedy show, fundraisers and special events for children affected by violence.

The Foundation seeks to raise money for families affected by violence, provide scholarships and educate the public on child safety and insurance policies.
