GardenWalk Cleveland features unique urban landscapes

Self-guided tours in 10 neighborhoods

CLEVELAND - The 2nd annual GardenWalk Cleveland is being held in 10 urban neighborhoods this weekend.

The walk takes place both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The GardenWalk Cleveland website bills the event as "a free, self-guided tour of gardens, urban farms, vineyards, and orchards."

Cleveland neighborhoods involved in the Walk include: Brooklyn Centre, Detroit Shoreway, Glenville, Hough, Lee Harvard Miles, Ohio City, Old Brooklyn, Slavic Village, St. Clair Superior and Tremont.

A map of all participating garden locations is available on the website and at a designated headquarters in each neighborhood. A count of the mapped gardens totaled at least 200 separate green spaces.

Parking, restrooms and water is also available at each neighborhood headquarters.

Many of the gardens on display are at private residences. Participating properties are marked with GardenWalk Cleveland signs in the front yard.

The first GardenWalk Cleveland was held in 2011 and was modeled after a similar program in the city of Buffalo, New York.
