Brandon Cleveland, of Euclid, was a wanted fugitive arrested on June 23 by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Authorities said Cleveland was arrested in the area of the 1800 block of Alcoy Avenue in the city of Cleveland.

Cleveland was previously featured as a fugitive of the week. He was arrested for outstanding felony warrants for assault on a peace officer and having weapons under disability, officials said.

Cleveland's warrants, police reported, stemmed from an incident on May 27. The off-duty officer was working security in the 25400 block of Euclid Avenue around 12:30 a.m. when he approached an SUV in the parking lot after smelling marijuana.

Cleveland allegedly pulled a gun out and pointed it at the officer. The officer fired several shots, but it was unclear whether Cleveland was hit. It was also unclear whether Cleveland fired his gun.

Police said Cleveland was able to get away by running into the woods east of an apartment complex. The gun was located in the woods. Another person in the car was taken into custody.

Cleveland appeared in Euclid Municipal Court on Friday before Judge Deborah A. LeBarron, who set bond for Cleveland at $500,000.
