The family of a 6-year-old girl, who police say was abducted from her Cleveland home Saturday morning, is being investigated by the Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services, according to an agency spokesperson.

The girl is back home after she was found seemingly unharmed 17 hours later.

The agency said its purpose for the investigation is to ensure the safety and supervision of the victim and other children in the home. The victim's grandmother reported her missing at 2:30 pm Saturday, eight hours after police said she was kidnapped from a downstairs area of her home. There were no signs of forced entry.

The news comes as FBI agents canvassed the near west side neighborhood once again Thursday, trying to determine the identity of a person of interest in this case.

"It’s definitely a unique case," said Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia of the Cleveland Division of Police. "They say stranger abductions and in-home abductions are extremely rare. So you know this person is very bold. It’s definitely something we need to solve.”
