Euclid man shot and killed in driveway

EUCLID, Ohio - A Euclid man is dead after being shot in his driveway.

It happened Monday just after 10 p.m. on Breckenbridge Drive. Police said they responded to several 911 calls made from the area. When officers arrived at the house, they found 34-year-old DeJohn J. Dammons unresponsive and lying in the driveway near his car.

At the home where Dammons was killed, police said that there was a forced entry and gunshots were reported at 10:20 p.m. Monday. A woman inside was assaulted and there were others in the home, but police said that no one else was injured.

Dammons worked at Big Boy's Seafood just a few miles away in South Euclid. Larry Williams is the cook there and showed up to start his shift at 1 p.m. only to learn about what happened from nearby barbers.

"I talked to one of the guys when I was walking through the parking lot. He asked me did I hear what happened? I was like, ‘What do you mean?' And he was like, ‘John's dead,'" Williams said. "We just closed up last night. I just seen him last night, so it's like a shock."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Euclid Police Department Detective Bureau at 216-289-8505.
