Emergency rooms have been busy with people coming in this year with weather related-injuries.
Since January 1, temperatures have dipped at or below zero 17 times.
“In the winter time we see lots of injuries,” says ER doctor Warren Davidson, who works at Rainbow Babies Children’s Hospital.
He said he doesn’t think this year has been much different from past years despite the numerous sub-zero days.
“I’ve seen some bad frostbite this winter as well as lots of respiratory infections, which is par for the course come winter time,” he continued.
Davidson wants to remind parents who may have kids playing out in the snow or just out and about in the cold weather. Keep most of your body parts covered up and not exposed.
He advises that kids dress in layers. That was something we found parents already doing near Tiedaman and Memphis where kids were whipping around their sleds.
