Defendant spits at Cuyahoga County judge after sentencing, gets more time in jail

That bed idea costs him more prison time

CLEVELAND - A man being sentenced on theft charges in Cuyahoga County found a way to get himself even more time than the judge intended.

Aubrey Lee is no stranger to the criminal justice system. The 30-year-old has a record going back to 2001 for various theft, robbery and assault convictions that landed him in prison multiple times.

That's why after being sentenced to six months in a local jail for receiving stolen property, he should have known better than to lash out at Judge Maureen Clancy in her Cuyahoga County courtroom. Following the sentencing, Lee became agitated, shouting at the judge and then spitting at her, according to court officials.

Luckily he missed his target, but Judge Clancy did not miss hers, sentencing Lee to 10 months in prison at the Lorain Correctional Institution.

If there is a lesson to be learned here, it might be that if you're perhaps not smart enough to quit committing crimes, at least keep your mouth shut as you're being sentenced.
