Dads receive superhero treatment on Father's Day in downtown Cleveland

Goodtime III hosts special cruise for dads

CLEVELAND - With the filming of Captain America taking place in Cleveland, superheroes have been on the minds of many in Northeast Ohio.

Sunday was a day to honor another important superhero to families. That hero is dad.

Goodtime III hosted a special Father's Day-Superhero cruise for more than 200 dads and their families.

Actors dressed as Superman, Captain America, Spiderman and Batman entertained the crowd with dancing and hula hooping.

Superhero drawings and memorabilia were on display as well.

Scott Canupp of Broadview Heights was treated like Captain America by his family on Father's Day.

"It means a ton. I remember Father's Day with my dad," said Scott. "Now to be able to share it with my kids, it's just a great day."

Scott's kids, Abbey and Alex, shared what makes their dad so special to them.

"I like how he always makes jokes. He's just a really good dad," said Abbey.

"I think my dad's really special because he always helps me with my sports," added Alex.

Ronnie Jordan of Cleveland felt like Superman for Father's Day on the Goodtime III.

"This day is very special to me and I'm blessed to be able to be 50 years old and to be here on Father's Day with my entire family," said Ronnie.

A video was also played on board showing how superheroes were initially created and how they evolved over time.
