Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine will announce Wednesday a major milestone in Ohio rape kit testing.
DeWine will announce the 500th defendant indicted through the work of the Cuyahoga County Sexual Assault Kit Task Force.
The task force, which was established in 2013, is made up of a group of forensic scientists, investigators, victim advocates, prosecutors and others dedicated to the testing, investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases.
Nearly 5,000 sex assault kits collected between 1993 and 2010 are being reexamined by the task force.
