Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason resigns, takes job with Columbus law firm

CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason stepped down Monday to take a job with a law firm based in Columbus, his office confirmed.

Mason said he will be working for Bricker & Eckler. His final day working as prosecutor will be Oct. 1.

A replacement for Mason, who decided to not run for re-election, will be chosen by voters in the Nov. 6 general election. Former Judge Tim McGinty (D) and Ed Wade (I) are facing off for the seat.

In a one page letter, Mason thanked residents for electing him and talked about three of his biggest accomplishments while in office.

"I want to thank the citizens of this county for electing me to office, placing their trust and faith in me, and always warmly welcoming me and my staff into their communities."
