CLEVELAND - Cleveland Police report 19 homicides since Jan. 1 — the most in the first 10 weeks of the year since 2009.
The department released statistics Thursday that compare the rate of homicides, rapes, robbery, assault, theft and arson between Jan. 1 and March 15 of each year since 2007.
Homicide and robbery with a firearm are up 30 and 56 percent, respectively. But all other types of crime reported — rape, robbery without a firearm and total robbery, felonious assault, burglary, theft, grand motor vehicle heft and arson — have dropped.
