CLEVELAND - Cleveland is investigating two police patrolmen who disobeyed a sergeant's direct order about an off-duty officer who needed help.
The two officers were told during the March 30 incident to stay put because other officers were on the way.
Instead, they went to the man's aid at a Warehouse District nightclub where people were beginning to surround him.
The Cleveland Police Department is under fire after Cleveland officers failed to follow proper policy in a chaotic chase last fall that ended with 13 officers firing 137 rounds and killing two fleeing people who were likely unarmed.
A Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association attorney said police have a moral obligation to help an officer in need, making the March incident different from the chase.
