Cleveland Police investigate shooting in downtown Cleveland overnight

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Police are investigating a shooting in downtown early Sunday morning.

According to Cleveland Police, officers were called out to the Crazy Horse at 1438 St. Clair Avenue around 2 a.m. for a male shot.

Officers arrived on scene and located the 30-year-old male in the parking lot. According to the victim, he was walking to his truck when he was shot from behind, He suffered a gunshot wound to the back/abdomen region. The male could not describe the suspect, but a witness reported hearing the shot and seeing a black male wearing shorts running down the alley near the parking lot.

Furious over everything, Crazy Horse's owner Al Spencer told NewsChannel5 Sunday, the people involved in the early morning shooting did not come from his business. He claims surveillance video shows at least the victim coming from a different nearby business.

Spencer said Sunday, "I'm upset that its affiliated with this shooting because if, not just specifically that it's a shooting, anything in this area, in the Downtown area that a shooting occurs, it's bad for Cleveland, it's bad for business."

He added, "The City is coming along wonderfully, we've got the Medical Mart, we've got the Casino, we've a dozen different projects coming up, we've got the Convention Center. The City of Cleveland does not need this mark."

Police did connect the strip club to a shooting back in February that involved three off-duty Cleveland Police Officers.

The victim was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center in unknown condition by EMS.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Third District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5318.
