Cleveland police called out to Carl and Louis Stokes Middle School for report of mace sprayed

CLEVELAND - Cleveland police were called out to Carl and Louis Stokes Middle School Monday morning for a report of mace sprayed.

EMS confirms they were sent out to the school on Cedar Avenue and East 40th Street.

At least one student was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

CMSD spokeswoman Roseann Canfora said a student brought either pepper spray or mace to the school and sprayed it. That student, who has not been named, will be disciplined by school officials.

Only one other child was treated due to asthma. Police and school officials are still investigating but believe it was done as a prank/joke.
