CLEVELAND - Police are investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old Hispanic girl in Cleveland overnight, and have since arrested another teen in connection with the case.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Jennifer Zacarias.
The shooting happened on West 102nd Street near Thrush Avenue at about 12:15 a.m. Friday.
Police said that Jennifer's father heard multiple gunshots outside, found that his daughter was not in her room and went outside to find her in the backyard with multiple gunshot wounds.
Jennifer was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Later in the morning, police said they arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the shooting. He was taken into custody on West 88th Street in Cleveland. Officers said the suspect and victim knew each other.
