CLEVELAND - From the oldest dinosaurs to heavenly mysteries, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History is beloved for its awe inspiring exhibits. Now, it is hoping to inspire more young people to consider pursuing careers in science.
Creating a "window into science" is the overall goal of an ambitious redesign and expansion. The proposed $125 million-project will bring curatorial and research laboratories - currently out of sight - into light filled glass galleries that will give access to the public.
The expansion will also include new classrooms to facilitate the museum's mission to make science come alive and emphasize hands on learning for students.
Museum spokeswoman Glenda Bogar said that Executive Director Evalyn Gates, Ph.D. announced A. Chace Anderson, the museum's board president and partner in CM Wealth Advisors, and museum trustee James L. Hambrick, chairman, president and CEO of Lubrizol Corporation will direct the capital fundraising campaign.
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History's collections include more than 5 million artifacts and specimens, and is recognized as one of the finest museums of its kind in North America. You'll find more information about its programs here: http://www.cmnh.org
