Cleveland man indicted on 150 child porn charges

Investigation of Utah man uncovered Casper

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland man is facing 150 charges related to child pornography.

Darin Casper, 49, was indicted on 146 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, three counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor and one count of possessing criminal tools.

"For years, Casper has perpetuated the victimization of children by downloading, creating, and sharing these pornographic images. Today's indictment continues the fight against sick minded Internet predators," Cuyahoga County Bill Mason said.

Mason said Casper was actually discovered by the Utah Attorney General's Office during an investigation of a man accused of trading child porn. The Utah man admitted sharing porn with other people through email.

Mason said that between March 2, 2000 and May 4, 2012, Casper created and downloaded child porn files. The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force searched Casper's house on Baltic Avenue earlier this month. They seized two computer towers, 17 CDs, seven cell phones, five laptops, three flash drives, 106 floppy disks, three digital cameras, 55 VHS tapes, one media card and three hard drives.

Mason said there were 1,500 child pornography images and videos. The investigation is still ongoing.

Casper is being held on $100,000 bond and will be arraigned on Wednesday.
