Cleveland man and sex offender, Amauris Zaiter, sentenced to 28 1/2 years

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland sex offender was sentenced Tuesday to 28 1/2 years in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a child in addition to various other crimes from last summer.

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutors, Amauris Zaiter, 39, was first discovered by police when his live-in girlfriend went to Cleveland police to report domestic violence and animal cruelty. 

While reporting the incident, Zaiter's girlfriend told police she discovered child pornography on his computer during the summer of 2013. She also told police his computer contained self-produced voyeuristic videos. 

Police then obtained a search warrant and all electronic storage devices belonging to Zaiter were seized.

Files of Zaiter engaging in sexual activity with a child were found along with hundreds of child pornography files. 

In July, the Cleveland man pled guilty to rape, gross sexual imposition, one count of kidnapping, 26 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, 61 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, one count of cruelty to animals, one count of domestic violence and one count of possessing criminal tools. 

Zaiter will be required to register as Tier III sex offender in addition to his prison sentence/
