Cleveland food truck deadline looms, new rules expected

Six-month trial phase coming to a close

CLEVELAND - Food trucks have been a very popular addition to the streets of Cleveland offering such gourmet fare such as fig burgers and tofu tacos, but the end of their six-month trial period is coming to an end.

Monday night at Cleveland City Hall, legislation was introduced to make the food trucks a more permanent part of Cleveland's food scene.

The ordinance will have a committee hearing next Monday, the day the current ordinance expires, and is expected to be approved at that evening's meeting.

The new ordinance will have a few changes, with the biggest expected to be a requirement all truck employees wear identification.
