CLEVELAND - A former Cleveland Clinic nurse charged with trying to hire an emergency room patient to kill a woman apparently is ready to withdraw his not-guilty plea.
Federal Judge Christopher Boyko in Cleveland has scheduled a change of plea hearing next week for 23-year-old Andrew Martin of Bristolville near Warren.
Defense attorney Edward LaRue stopped short of saying his client would plead guilty but said Martin is ready to resolve the case.
There was no immediate comment from prosecutors.
Authorities say Martin offered $10,000 to an ER patient to kill a woman in a dispute over ownership of her deceased brother's Lakewood house. She wasn't harmed.
The woman says Martin took advantage of her brother, who suffered from dementia and died in 2010.
