Cleveland city worker James Box pleads not guilty to kidnapping, attempted rape and more

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland city worker, indicted by Cuyahoga County on sex charges, has pleaded not guilty to the crimes.

Bond was set at $25,000 for James Box in court on Wednesday. If he bonds out, he has been ordered not to have contact with the victim.

Box's first pretrial is set for April 10 at 9 a.m.

Box was indicted and charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of attempted rape, two counts of attempted sexual battery, four counts of gross sexual imposition, and one count of soliciting last month.

The city of Cleveland said Box remains suspended without pay pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
