Cleveland city worker James Box indicted on sex charges

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland city worker has been indicted by Cuyahoga County on sex charges.

According to Cleveland officials, James Box has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation in court.

Box is the project director of the Community Relations Department.

According to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court records, Box has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of attempted rape, two counts of attempted sexual battery, four counts of gross sexual imposition and soliciting.

The indictment against Box states there were two victims and that the incidents happened between August 2011 and October 2011 at which time Box had "supervisory or disciplinary authority over the victims."

The mayor's office said Box was placed on restricted duty, with limited and supervised access to the public, when they became aware of the allegations last year.

Box is scheduled to be arraigned on April 3.
