CLEVELAND - A Cleveland city councilman will be retiring at year's end.
Jay Westbrook, who has represented Cleveland's west side for more than 30 years, will announce Monday that he will not seek re-election in November.
Westbrook's term ends on Dec. 21, 2013.
The councilman began his tenure in 1980 and has been re-elected nine times. He served as President of City Council for 10 years from 1990-1999 and alongside four mayors, George Voinovich, Michael R. White, Jane Campbell and Frank Jackson.
Westbrook was a founder of the Ohio Public Interest Campaign (now called Ohio Citizen Action), a statewide citizens organization with more than 350,000 members.
