The Cleveland Animal Protective League is lowering donation fees as cat and dog numbers reach a critical level.
Cleveland's APL's CEO, Sharon Harvey, told Newsnet5.com that it hasn't been this crowded at this APL in years.
"This is the worst we've had it for dogs in a long time," she said.
Their humane investigators just opened 23 cases, saving 60 animals, but it filled them to capacity.
"There was a time in our history when to make space, animals would be euthanized. We don't do that anymore. Every animal that is healthy and friendly is going to stay with us until we find them a home," Harvey said.
Thursday through Saturday adoption fees for adult dogs will drop to $40. Adult cats will be available for only $5 with a second cat for $20.

APL is hoping for adoptions and donations.
The APL is also asking animal lovers to sign up for an emergency foster orientation on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. or Saturday at 1 p.m. For more information visit Cleveland APL's website.
