Chilly night greets Critical Mass cyclists

CLEVELAND - The calendar may read December but for Cleveland cyclists it was a great night for a ride.

The monthly Critical Mass ride took off from Cleveland's Public Square through the streets of Cleveland. An ending spot for the social ride is picked in advance but the route to get there happens randomly.

"We ride wherever the group determines," said rider Dennis Litto.

Friday evening's route ended at Sterle's Restaurant on East 55th Street.

The snow on the ground and Christmas lights give the ride an extra bit of charm.

"It's very special," Litto added.

While most bundled up, others wore shorts and t-shirts as temperatures hovered around the freezing mark.

"This is a big group of dedicated cyclists."

The rides take place on the last Friday of each month and depart from the southwest quadrant of Public Square at 7 p.m.

Cleveland is one of 300 cities worldwide with a Critical Mass ride.
