A Tuesday morning police chase in Cleveland ended in a crash with one armed robbery suspect and an innocent driver injured.

The chase began about 3 a.m. when Fourth District Cleveland police officers spotted a stolen red minivan that had been used in at least one armed robbery earlier in the morning. The suspects led officers down Broadway Avenue until they crashed into an SUV and a building at the corner of East 37th Street and Broadway Avenue.

One suspect was injured in the crash and escorted to MetroHealth Medical Center by Cleveland police and EMS.  A second suspect was able to jump from the wreckage and run away. The driver of the SUV was also taken to MetroHealth Center for treatment. Injuries to both the suspect and other driver are unknown.

As police began their investigation News 5 cameras were rolling as officers pulled a loaded revolver from the front seat area of the stolen van. Officers also found additional ammunition inside the minivan.

Details about the earlier robberies have not yet been released.

Broadway Avenue was closed from East 37th Street to Trumbull Avenue as officers investigated and reconstructed the crash.
