CLEVELAND - New information on a water main break on Cleveland's east side. Crews have completed repairs and reopened all lanes on Stokes Blvd as of 10 p.m. Sunday. That's according to John Goersmeyer, spokesman for the Cleveland Water Department.
The break started around 7:45 p.m. Friday evening, when a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant on Stokes Boulevard near Kindred Hospital. That sent water rushing through the street. As officials tried to turn off the hydrant, a 36-inch water main broke.
Initially, the water flooded part of the road and caused slick driving conditions. Cleveland road crews salted the roads in the area, but the swiftly moving water washed some of it away.
According to Goersmeyer, no water customers were affected by the leak.
