Arrest made, officers on administrative leave after shooting at Winston's Place Bar early Friday

CLEVELAND - An arrest has been made after an officer-involved shooting early Friday morning that left 1 person injured.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. Friday at E.131st & Cain Avenue outside of Winston's Place Bar.

Fourth District Police Officers observed a male exiting the bar with a handgun and after observing the male the officers ordered the male to stop and drop the weapon. The male did not comply and attempted to flee on foot. At that  time the officers exited their zone car and pursued the male. As the officers pursued the male he turned, pointed the handgun at the officers and shot at them. The officers returned fire hitting the suspect multiple times.

Further investigation revealed that the arrested male was involved in an altercation inside the bar and removed from the bar.

After being removed from the bar the arrested male obtained a handgun from a vehicle. Once in possession of the handgun the arrested male returned to the bar and confronted the security guard at the front door.

During the confrontation the arrested male shot once in the air and shot the security guard in the leg.   

The security guard, 38-year-old Dartanyian C. Washington, was treated and released from MetroHealth Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the leg.

The male suspect was taken into custody and treated at MetroHealth Medical center for his injuries. It is NewsChannel 5's policy to not release the name of the suspect until he has been formally charged.

The officers involved, Patrolmen Barry Bentley and Gene Sardon, have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation into the shooting continues.
