The man who police say fired the bullet that fatally wounded 5-month-old Aavielle Wakefield has turned himself in.

Cleveland police announced Friday that Charles Caldwell turned himself in with his attorney present.

Police issued the warrant for Caldwell's arrest last month.

According to the warrant, on Oct. 1, 2015 at 3412 E. 145th St., Caldwell fired a handgun at a moving Oldsmobile Alero that was traveling west on Spear Avenue from East 145th Street. One of the fired shots struck and killed 5-month-old Aavielle Wakefield.

U.S. Marshals arrested 19-year-old Davon Holmes in 2015 for his connection to the infant's homicide. He was charged with aggravated murder, murder, four counts of attempted murder, four counts of felonious assault, discharge of firearm on or near prohibited premises, and improperly discharging into habitation.

Lawrence Hilliard was also charged with tampering with evidence in the case.
