After around 50,000 people showed up in the city for the Republican National Convention, it's time for the visitors to leave the 2-1-6. However on Friday, they are dealing with several airport cancellations.

The Transportation Security Administration expects 30 percent more people to fly out on Friday, but Southwest is one airline that was dealing with cancellations Friday morning.

Reporter Sarah Phinney met with members of the Texas delegation who had only moved a short distance in their line from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Commissioner Fred Szabo said the TSA expects 18,000 people to fly out on Friday.

Szabo said just before 9 a.m. that everyone has been rebooked, some on different airlines. Only a few flights were canceled, not all. Some people will be flying out tomorrow.

Take these precautions on your way to the airport on Friday:

  • Check with your airline, make sure your flight hasn't been canceled.

  • If you were at the RNC, take convention literature out of your carry on before you get to security. The high gloss printing can set off the scanners.

Phinney was told more travelers are expected at Hopkins on Friday than on Thanksgiving Day this year.
