$7,000 reward for information after Cleveland nun killed in hit-skip

CLEVELAND - The reward is now up to $7,000 for information leading to the arrest of the driver who hit and killed an 81-year-old nun.

Maxine Lobins was crossing the street with her walker at Lorain Avenue and Rocky River Driver in Cleveland's Kamm's Corners neighborhood on Jan. 9 when she was hit. Her son said she suffered two broken legs and a broken pelvis, before succumbing to her injuries.

On Wednesday, Cleveland police said Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000 for information in the hit-skip. Lobin's family added $5,000 to the reward in hopes of finding the person responsible.

Cleveland police said the vehicle involved was a black, full-size SUV.

Lobins was an art teacher for more than two decades with then-Cleveland Public Schools before becoming a nun. She died just five before her 82nd birthday.

Anyone with information should call Cleveland police 216-623-5295.
